| The Saugatuck Yacht Club is a family-oriented sailing, boating and social club serving the permanent and summer residents of Saugatuck, Douglas, Fennville and surrounding communities in Western Michigan. The clubhouse is located on the shores of Lake Kalamazoo, a bulge in the Kalamazoo River leading out to Lake Michigan. The Club supports an active small boat sailing program including races twice a week (Wednesdays and Saturdays) for Optis, Sunfish and Laser sailboats. Kids of all ages (adults included) participate in the friendly, but competitive races around the bouys on Lake Kalamazoo. The Saugatuck Yacht Club has a certified sailing school teaching the kids the fine points of sailing on Monday through Friday during the summer on the Club's fleet of Optis and Sunfish. The social calendar is full of parties, barbeques and other get-togethers all summer long as well as a fascinating speaker program in the winter. The Club maintains a tennis court for its members and several Club sailboats for use by qualified members. Permanent docks are maintained by the Club and available for rent by members for their sail and power boats. Docks will be expanded, almost doubling the capacity for the 2008 season. The beautiful location on the shores of Lake Kalamnazoo have proven to be a popular spot for our members to rent for personal parties and special events. The Saugatuck Yacht Club welcomes new members every year, both young and old. If you would like to join, click here to take you to the membership application page. Initiation fee is $150 and annual dues for families is $175. Individual membership dues are $100/year. Junior memberships are also available for kids who want to learn how to sail for $60/year. |
